Dr. Khazal Al-Majidi

 

The distinction between science, philosophy, and the history of religions has always been confused, and these terms have long been used interchangeably. In this lecture, the speaker will provide an overview of each field and its scholars.

A brief biography of Dr. Khazal Al-Majidi:

Academic and researcher in the science and history of religions, civilizations, and myths. Additionally, he is a playwright and poet. He obtained his Ph.D. in ancient history from the Institute of Arab History and Scientific Heritage for postgraduate studies in 1996. Throughout his career, he worked in Iraqi radio and television, magazines and newspapers. He also worked at the Union of Writers and Writers and the Department of Cinema and Theater between the years "1973-1998", then he worked as a university professor at the University of Derna in Libya "1998-2003". Later on, he also taught and lectured at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands (where he currently resides) along with several other open universities in Europe. Today, he has a total of 90 published books out of which, 7 were translated to English, French, Romanian, Persian, and Kurdish.

Among his books, he published 55 books in the field of history of civilizations, religions, and mythology including Religion Science, Prehistoric Civilizations, Sumerian Civilization, Egyptian Civilization, Indian Civilization, Sumerian Creeds, Canaanite Beliefs, Old Jerusalem History, Amorite Beliefs, Aramaic Beliefs, Egyptian Religion. Sham deities, theological mandalas, the mythology of immortality, the incense of the gods, the Gospel of Sumer, the Babylonian civilization, the Assyrian civilization to name a few.

He also published 28 collections of poetry, published in 7 volumes, including The Awakening of Dilmun, The Songs of Israfil, Khazael, The Sorrows of the Iraqi Sunnah, The Volatility of Embers and Irritations, Live and Stairs, Rambo's Crutch, 2000 short. Furthermore, he has published a comprehensive theoretical book on Poetry entitled Poetic Mind.

Last but not least, he published 10 books in the field of theater such as the open theater and the picture theater. Among them, he had 2 volumes, that regrouped 35 plays, published in the Arab Foundation for Studies (2010 and 2012), and distributed in Beirut. Among these plays, 22 of them were played in theaters around the world which included Isolation in the Crystal, Hamlet without Hamlet, Sidra, Party Diamonds, yellow music to name a few.

With an extensive repertoire of studies and researches in the intellectual and creative fields mentioned above, he regularly published in scientific and public journals. Furthermore, he used his publications to participate in Arab and international conferences and have obtained training and honorary certificates in the fields of history, civilization, culture, media, and arts. He has written more than sixty intellectual and cultural lectures in Europe, Canada, Michigan, and the Arab world in the last ten years, some of which are recorded and available on his own YouTube channel.

Between 2004 and 2006, he was the director of the Iraqi Center for Dialogue of Civilizations and Religions in Baghdad. Currently, he is a member of the Iraqi Writers and Writers Union, the Arab Writers Union, the Iraqi Dramatists Union, the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, the Arab Historians Union, and a member of the East-West Roman Academy.
